"Using traditional techniques and processes I create functional objects that integrate practicality and aesthetics. Working within the limitations of natural materials, I aim to blur traditional boundaries while embracing the shared values of craft.

Artifacts mimic forms found in nature; this relationship is echoed in the vernacular of architecture, furniture and jewelry and serves as a basis for functional design. Reimagining skeletal structures, anatomical or biological processes, and microscopic crystalline details is a catalyst for my work.

It is by combining these elements of ambiguous organic and familiar functional forms in one object, multiple meanings and various personalities emerge. Blending contrasting visual elements into one perceptually complex object invites the viewer to ponder what purpose the object serves - aesthetics, practicality, neither or both."
